When Meenakshi asked me to join her on a road trip in Portugal, I was a little sceptical as I have never done a caravan trip. But it was one of my most memorable trips with lovely people like Meenakshi and Heera . The caravan was so comfortable with beds, pantry, table & chairs. The trip was so well organised, we did a lot of cooking, met fellow travellers and had great conversations. Portugal is a beautiful country, one of the safest countries for women travellers and one must travel by road to appreciate the beautiful beaches, culture and food. Looking forward to more journeys with Meenakshi and friends.

Meena , Vidya and I have travelled together earlier and have also been good friends but I feel this road trip took us back to our childhood. We were like little children laughing for absolutely no reason. We could just look at each other and take off on a laughing spree. Our hearts were filled with so much joy and we simply forgot everything else.
Of course the trip was planned meticulously well in advance so we didn’t really have any bad moments. Meena made sure we spent enough time going through the Portugal map, she guided us well and had a plan in place always.
The entire experience of first seeing the Van (we made it our home for ten days and believe me we really did feel at home), checking it out, trying to grasp the instructions and actually taking it out the first time, will surely remain etched in my memory forever.
Driving through quaint villages, stopping to set up our ‘dining table’ in the middle of nowhere, hunting for good camp sites to park overnight, are things we enjoyed.
Every day was an adventure, seeing new places, experiencing the local cuisine, sometimes walking around the countryside, meeting folks of different nationalities, chatting up with them, bonding over bottles of amazing wine and laughing till our stomachs hurt.
The days flew fast and before we knew our trip ended. Though a bit sad we were left with a feeling of joy and contentment.
I strongly believe everyone should go on a road trip. And for me personally though I have travelled a bit, this one will remain the best trip of my life, so far…I would do it over and over again with Meena and Vidya as they made it complete for me.
